The last match in the Youth League for Club NXT U19 was one against Sporting CP U19. Blue-Black started well in a balanced match. After 10 minutes, a free kick landed on the head of Amengai, who unfortunately processed it into his own goal. Club NXT continued to fight and pushed the Portuguese back. In the second half, Bisiwu came closest to the equalizer, but his effort hit the post. Thus, Club NXT lost its final Youth League match by the smallest of margins.
First half
Club NXT U19 started its last Youth League match without the suspended Granados and the injured Furo. With a very young team averaging a year younger than the Portuguese, coach Veldman went in search of a first win.
However, it was immediately watchful for our youngsters. Sporting took a free kick from 25 meters, but fortunately the header went wide. Blauw-Zwart's first chance started through a nice combination between Amengai and Bisiwu. The ball ended up with Lund Jensen via Da Silva, but his shot was blocked. The match was nicely balanced. Sporting switched gears at lightning speed, Club NXT trying to combine through them.
Vandeperre stopped Costa foul and, after more than 15 minutes, collected the first yellow card of the match. The Portuguese's free kick was unhappily headed in by Amengai, 0-1. Club NXT immediately went in search of the equalizer. Van Britsom laid the ball at the far post where Lund Jensen stood alone. The angle was sharp and he did not get his shot framed.
Our youngsters continued to search patiently for an opening in the Portuguese defense. For the time being, without result. The Portuguese occasionally poked dangerously against. Gonçalves decided on a counter-punch high over the goal. A back pass from Vandeperre almost bumped over the foot of goalkeeper Vanden Driessche, but he was able to clear it for the onrushing Silva.
Club NXT regularly switched gears well. Captain Goemaere brought the ball up to Lund Jensen, who crossed. His ball to Da Silva was too hard. Gouveia wanted to clear but slipped so the ball disappeared in a corner kick. Blue-Black got three corners in a row. The third was cleared but Bisiwu picked it up. He left three men standing and popped at goal. Goalkeeper Gouveia made a great save. Afterwards, our goalie had little trouble with a weak kick from Moreira. We reached halftime with an undeserved 0-1 deficit.
