This weekend you also get to go to your favorite club's stadium. This is a great gift at a time when Covid-19 is hitting hard again and all sorts of things are no longer allowed.
The measures, which the government has just taken, are severe. But they are much needed to push back that dirty bug. Soccer is being spared for now. That's only because the government is taking our impact on social welfare into account. Soccer connects, soccer scatters, soccer dreams, soccer brings hope in these confusing times. But soccer also serves as an example, and we must take it up NOW.
This weekend we must show our solidarity with all those who do now have to make sacrifices to push back Covid. This weekend we must be happy that we are allowed to continue to play our connecting role. And this weekend, above all, we must earn our place as we weather the pandemic.
Mouth masks are crucial in this regard. Mouth masks stop the transmission of the virus. Mouth masks save lives. Yes, oral masks are annoying. Yes, we were so happy that the government relaxed the mouth mask requirement this summer. But unfortunately, the mouth mask remains one of the greatest weapons in reducing the pandemic. And in this, soccer wants to set a great example.
All of our players will take the field with mouth masks in the coming months and will put on their mouth masks immediately after the final whistle to go out and salute you. Join us, support with your mouth mask, preferably that of your favorite club. Show that soccer is fighting along to get Covid out of the world as soon as possible!
