Nicky Hayen: “Congrats to Westerlo.”
There was an audible sigh of relief in the Jan Breydel Stadium when Hugo Siquet tapped home in stoppage time to make it 4-3. Not in the least by coach Nicky Hayen: "First of all I want to congratulate Westerlo with the way they played here today. We win today, but it was a hard-fought win. That makes this victory taste very sweet. For the neutral fan this was a great game to watch, but that wasn't the case for the coaches. We started off well, but then we made too many mistakes. We weren't organized well enough, gave away too much space and made the wrong choises. Then you get games like these with lots of goals. Entertaining sure, but it gives me and the rest of the staff lots to think about."
Hugo Siquet: "Happy with my two goals."
"It wasn't going the way we had hoped when I came on, but I took my chance. When I can come on, I always intend to make a difference. With two goals today I can say I succeeded in doing that. I'm happy that I could help the team bag all three points."
Ardon Jashari: “Nice Christmas present for the fans.”
Club had to work hard to beat Westerlo 4-3. Ardon Jashari admitted Club didn't play its best game of the season. "This 4-3 victory is a nice Christmas present for the fans, but it wasn't how we thought the game would turn out. Seven goals is fun for the neutral fan, but we have to be honest and admit that we conceded the three goals far too easily. That's something we have to analyze, because that can't happen again. Luckily we managed to score one more, so we end the year with a good feeling."
"Personally I think we were a bit less concentrated because we have played quite a lof of games in the past few weeks. Now we have time to rest. I will stay in Brugge for three more days before visiting my family. We're happy with the win, but not so much with the way we did it." (FDC)
