A bravely fighting Club YLA had to give up tonight against RSCA Women. In a captivating match at the Burgemeester Van de Wielestadion in Deinze, Blauw-Zwart seemed to be heading for a good result, but a late penalty kick decided the fate: 2-1.
The visitors started the game eagerly. After only 26 minutes, they scored when Lisa Petry put the ball over the Anderlecht goalkeeper: 0-1. Club YLA then held on well and went into the break with a narrow lead.
After the break, RSCA Women got into the game better. An unfortunate dropped ball soon made it 1-1. However, Club YLA continued to resist and tried to regain control of the game through some substitutions. Da Eira returned to the pitch after a long period of injury. Vanneste and Frederiksen also came on to provide the team with fresh energy, followed later by Gielen and Camps.
Just when it seemed that Blauw-Zwart would take home a point, Anderlecht got a penalty kick in extra time, which was converted unerringly: 2-1.
A sour defeat for Club YLA, which would have deserved at least a draw based on effort and organization.
